No-Limit Hold em Rules For Betting Structure

The Minimum raise: The raise must be the previous bet, call or raise plus that amount again, minimum. For example; if the first bet is $50 then the second player must raise a minimum of $50 (total of $100).

The Maximum eligible raise: Simply the whole of your stack (all your chips on the table)

Pot-Limit Hold em Rules For Betting Structure

The Minimum raise: The raise amount must be at least as much as the previous bet, call or raise plus that amount again, up to the maximum raise. For example; if the first bets is $50 then the second player must raise a minimum of $50 (total of $100).

The Maximum eligible raise: Simply the size of the pot, which is defined as the total of the “active pot” AND all the bets on the table from that round AND the call amount that player must first call before raising.

For example, if the active pot is $100 and the first bet in that round is $150 and the next call is $150, the third player has a maximum eligible total bet of $700 = $150 call and $550 raise ($100 pot + $150 bet + $150 call + $150 players own call).

Poker Training – Three Card Poker

Today in poker training we cover three card poker! Three card poker is fast becoming popular all over the globe because of its quick play aspect, it can be likened to an express version of 5 card poker but with less skill and more luck involved.
There are two distinct versions of 3 card poker – ‘pair-plus’  and ‘ante-and-play’.
Pair-plus is the simplest and we recommend it for beginners, you merely need to make a pair to win, with higher cards winning you more. The normal poker hand rankings also win you big bucks –  A straight flush pays out 40-to-1! With other hands i.e.. straight flushes, flushes, straights, 3 of a kind also paying out. As you can probably guess there is very little skill involved here, its more a game of chance which defeats a lot of the point of poker and doesn’t really require any poker training. For a real game of poker move on to ante-and-play.
Ante-and-Play three card poker involves more control over the game. Here you play your hand against the dealers, you get to raise the stakes if you want to and winning involves beating the dealer rather than getting any specific cards. Plus you still get a higher payout if you have a high ranking hand!
It is important to remember while playing 3 card poker that there is one crucial difference between 3 card and 5 card poker hand rankings – In 3 card a straight beats a flush on account of the card numbers making it easier to get a flush. In 5 card the opposite is true.
Strategy-wise raising your bet on a Queen or above with your second card above a 6 puts the odds in your favour.
If you want to try your ‘hand’ at 3 card poker (pardon the pun) you can find 3 card tables at 32 Red online casino, click the link below to visit:

Hold em Strategy – Escaping Loosing Streaks part 2

So, you need to conquer this fear of loosing? Start by understanding that loss is a natural and necessary part of the game and your poker training. Poker is one long game, winning is not done game by game, hand by hand remember this and make it the underlying rule of your hold em strategy. You must understand that the odds of never loosing are 0. This means you will have loosing hands and you will have loosing tables and you will have loosing days. But the better you get the less frequent they will become and players often report that they become less emotionally attached to the game as their skill improves, to the point where losing, even losing big just becomes an aspect of the game.
So your aware you do it, but changing the habit isn’t as easy as telling yourself to stop it, so how do you ‘stop it’. Well first of all accept that this won’t happen all at once, permit yourself to go easy on yourself and try these methods on for size, stick with the one or two that work best for you:-
Move to a table with significantly different stakes – Changing stakes up or down can sometimes shake off the feeling of an impending loosing streak. Moving down will relax you and make you less attached to high poker hand rankings and moving up will focus you. Do what feels right, if the idea of going higher scares you go lower, if lower frustrates you go higher.
Slow down – Fold! Then fold again. Allow the sting of loss and the mad panic to regain those losses to ebb away, this is a great hold em strategy.  No that hole in your stack won’t become permanent if you don’t fill it immediately, prove it to yourself, let it sit. Concentrate on your opponents, study their games and you’ll be in a better position to win when you rejoin the game – only rejoin when you feel calm and unemotional.
Remember your last big win – Really let yourself revel in the victory, let the positive emotions of that game cancel out your current negative ones. Remind yourself that you are more experienced now than you were then with more at table poker training, and imagine the loss you just suffered fuelling this training, fuelling your future wins. You learn more from the games you loose than the ones you win. Tell yourself that game made you more money in the long run than you lost.
Play to win not play to ‘win back’ - Never set out to win back what you have lost! This creates urgency which is never good in a game of strategy, be it poker, chess or playing the stock exchange. Just set out to beat your opponents, concentrate on the players not the money.
The number one thing NOT to do is play when your emotions are in control, even if you think you’ve got the winning poker hand rankings on the table. Don’t do it, you’ll be easier to read and more likely to make rash decisions and ultimately prolong the losing streak. Fold, then fold, then fold – until your in control, remember Poker is a game of nerve, if you loose yours you loose the game.

Hold em Strategy – Escaping Loosing Streaks part 1

We all win some and lose some in life, thats how it goes. So how come in poker the burden of loss is so hard to bear, and how come losing once or twice can so quickly turn into a downward spiral that spits you out at the end of a major loosing streak you didn’t see coming?
Well its purely psychological, you allow the negative feelings associated with the loss to get to you, but then you knew that right? What you want to know is how can you avoid it. That is the most important bit of hold em strategy I can teach you, not technique, nor poker hand rankings, but emotional control.
Well, you can easily stop a loosing streak in its tracks by paying attention to your emotions and simply stopping play when you feel you have entered the state of mind indicative of the beginnings of a loosing streak. Even if your poker hand rankings a high one. Did you know you can only really play your best game for about 6 hours? But for that particular breed of poker player amongst us that makes his or her primary living off of the table, walking away isn’t really an option. Some seasoned poker players will go for up to 20 hours straight at the table when trying to recoup a loss. How about that for at the table poker training! So for those of you playing for your dinner, and those of you aspiring to do so; it would be prudent to learn how to keep control of those negative money loosing emotions. That is what this hold em strategy lesson is all about.
First of all you have to know the beast, in poker its important to keep track of and learn the game of every poker player at your table, that includes the one sitting in your chair! The person who has the potential to cause your stack most damage is you. Thats the number one rule in poker training. Monitor your emotions; during the game, after the game. Do you get angry when your beaten by a lesser opponent? Do you feel vulnerable? Do you feel a mad urge to rush into another game and win it all back before the dent in your stack has time to become more permanent? Stop! All of these reaction emotions are the result of one underlying root emotion – fear of failure. Fear that you are not good enough to win back what you have lost. Money is a strange object, one which plays master to us all at times. It is easily spent, easily lost, but not so easily acquired. Therefore the human brain reasons that we should not have any and that any we do have will soon be lost. This is one game you must bow out of. (It makes it worse that holding cards with high poker hand rankings feels like holding currency. Currency that needs to be played to be realised – even if you have a niggling feeling your opponent has a better hand, it just seems too good to not risk, right?)

Welcome to our first Poker training lesson. Ok lets jump right in! The best way to learn Texas hold em rules is to have a go on one of the online poker sites, you can play with pretend money at Party Pokers ‘play money’ it doesn’t matter if you don’t really understand any of the rules yet or the poker hand rankings.

At Party Poker they offer a great double your money offer when you first sign up but you don’t need to worry about that now, just bare it in mind for later on after some poker training.

Now you’re in a live poker game! Scary yet exciting huh? Poker Hand Rankings at the ready! So we’d better explain the rules to you now:

The idea is to make the best hand of 5 cards out of the 2 cards you’re given, plus the 5 the dealer places face up on the table. These are the community cards that any player can use to complete their 5-card hand. The dealer does not show them all at once but reveals 3 after round 1, and 2 more later. In each round the players decide whether to wager (bet their chips), raise the stakes (up the amount each player has to bet – which everyone then has to match) or fold (bow out of the game). The winner is the player with the best hand once all the community cards are revealed, or the one left once everyone else has folded. And thats hold em rules in a nut shell!

So spend a little time playing to familiarize yourself with these rules and use the Poker Hand Rankings on our site to guide you.
